Fix Outlook 2010 Calendar quick search not working issues
Microsoft Outlook 2010 provides a feature to search calendar items from its calendar quick search box. It remains on the top right of the calendar screen. When you type something the quick search calendar box, you experience that Calendar Quick search not working in Outlook 2010. You may also get the message "No matches found for...". After that, you receive hyperlinked message saying "Try searching again in All Calendar Items".
When you click on the hyperlinked message, you still couldn't find the result. However, if you try to do a long search using "Ctrl+Shift+F" key combinations, you get better search results. Sometime the search even fails to find words that are actually displayed on the calendar in the current view. This is one of the major problem with Outlook 2010 calendar. In order to fix calendar quick search not working issue in Outlook 2010, you need to reindex folders.
The problem 'calendar quick search not working in Outlook 2010' generally occurs due to corruption or damages in your outlook pst file. If reindex doesn't work at all then you will need to repair the pst file first then you will need to reindex. MS Outlook has inbuilt utility Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) that repairs normally corrupted pst files. Follow the followings steps to repair the pst file using Inbox Repair tool:
- Scanpst.exe is a hidden file. So you need to enable "Show hidden files and folders" option. If you are using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 then Go to:
Start - > My Computer - > Organize - > Folder and Search Options - > View Tab - > Check Show Hidden Folders and Files.
You also need to unhide file extensions. So uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File Types". - Search for the "Scanpst.exe" file in your Windows 7 PC or go to the location:
Windows7 32 bit: C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 12/ScanPST.exe
Windows7 64 bit: C:/Program files(x86)/Microsoft Office/Office 12/ScanPST.exe - Now double click the file to start the program.
- Browse the outlook pst file that you want to repair. Typically pst remains in the following location "C:\Users\
\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook." - Click Start to start the scanning of the file
- After scanning completes, it will ask you to click to repair
Once you have successfully repaired. Start your Outlook and try to re-index the search options again. In case, you have problem in pst repair then you can use reliable PST Repair Tool.
