Fix Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library error Outlook 2003

Microsoft Outlook 2003 is an older version but still is being used all over the world. Most of the user prefer using Outlook 2003 due to its simplicity and compatibility. It really works fine for all tasks including email, notes, journals, calendars etc. If you are using Outlook 2003, you might encounter error opening HTML message like "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (Path to Outlook.exe) Abnormal Program Termination.". It generally occurs due to antivirus like McAfee VirusScan is installed in your computer. Error opening HTML message may also appear if Exchange Scan add-in is turned on in Outlook 2003. The Exchange Scan can cause a conflict with your Outlook 2003.

In order to fix error opening HTML message in Outlook, you need to update your antivirus. If updation couldn't fix the error then you will need to stop scanning outlook email. If the problem still persist then you need to turn off the Exchange Scan add-in and repair Outlook pst file. In order to successful repair of .pst file, you will need Outlook PST Repair tool. The tool repairs the damages in pst file and recovers missing data from the file. Follow the following step to turn off the Exchange Scan add-in in Outlook 2003:

1. Start Outlook 2003 program
2. Go to 'Tools' menu - > 'Options'
3. In the Options dialog box, select 'Other' tab then click on 'Advanced Options'
4. In the 'Advanced Options' dialog box, click on 'Add-In Manager'
5. Within the 'Add-In Manager' dialog box, clear the 'Exchange Scan' check box
6. Click OK - > OK - > OK

Now you will be able to open HTML messages in your Outlook 2003.
