Easy way to fix Outlook outlib.dll error



Microsoft Office has been developed with a number of application files and modules that includes library and DLL files. Outlook.dll is such a significant component of MS Outlook which is managed by Windows registry. When any problem or damages occur in this file, you receive Outlook outlib.dll error. You will face problem in Outlook startup and sometime due to outlib.dll Outlook crashes. Sometime, you might receive any of the error like as follows:

"Outlook has caused an error in OUTLLIB.DLL."
"Outlook will close now"
"OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in module OUTLLIB.DLL"


This is a major problem with outlook that should be fixed immediately. Such Outlook outlib.dll error may also occur with any of the Outlook 2010, 2007 or 2003. When the error appears, you may not be able to open Outlook and you may not be able to access your emails etc. Outlook outlib.dll error may also create problem while sending emails. When you open the application log file of Microsoft Outlook, you see the following entries like:

"Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353.0, stamp 408f2937, faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.6359.0, stamp 40c8adfd, debug? 0, fault address 0x00074db7."

This application log file helps to understand the error. It is showing that there is fault in Outlook.exe and outlib.dll, and some specific address.




Typically the error occurs due to corruption to either Outlib.dll or Outlook.exe file. Corruptions or damages in the file mainly takes place due to virus attack, application malfunction, power failure etc. In order to fix Outlook outlib.dll error, you need follow the following steps:

  • Close Outlook if running
  • Replace extand.dat file. Since incompatible or invalid extension information could also cause the .dll error.
  • Try opening Outlook in safe mode
  • Disable the suspected or useless Outlook add-ins
  • You will need to create new Outlook profile and new pst file


If it doesn't fix outlib.dll error, then you need to reinstall the Office Outlook. The error will now get fixed. If you have important data in older pst file then you can import your all the data to the new created pst file. In case, you are unable to access or import from the older pst file then you will need to use Outlook PST Repair software to repair and recover the pst file.
