How to view contact's Journal Entries lost when importing or exporting?

Today, you save all your personal information in your personal computer but sometime you need the information like contacts, emails etc on other computer. To do this you import and export the Personal Folder File (.pst file) into another computer. But doing this, you face problem and the contact's journal entries lost when importing or exporting. Though, you have exported to and imported from .pst files successfully but the lost journal tab doesn't let you access journal entries.

Reasons of contact's journal entries lost when importing or exporting .pst file:

The reason behind loss of contact's journal entries is lose of links between them. When the contacts are moved from one place to another then its internal ID number changes which causes losing the links between contacts and journal entries. However, journal entries are not stored within the contact they are stored in its journal folder.

How to View contact's Journal Entries lost when importing or exporting?

It is not possible to import, export and copy or move contacts without the journal entries which is associated with contacts. It is possible to retain the journal entries by adding a pst file to your profile. But it doesn't let you combine the contacts from one pst file with another.

An alternative way to view the contact's journal tab, is viewing the journal entries by contact in a tabular format. Follow the below mentioned steps to do this:

1. Go to Journal Folder
2. In the View menu, click on Define views and click New
3. Click Fields to adjust the fields you wish to see
4. click on Group By in order to group the journal entries by contact
5. Click OK
6. Click Apply View to see the result

If you are unable to view journals after following the above steps then the Personal Folder Files may be corrupted. In this situation, you will need to repair the file.
